Making a difference

The effects of sexual abuse can be devastating and long-lasting, impacting not only the victim but also family and friends as well as the wider community. Many of Safeline’s clients suffer from depression, PTSD, anxiety, isolation, eating disorders, drug and alcohol misuse, self-harm, and suicidal feelings (15% of all suicides and 40% of youth homelessness are attributed to sexual violence).

It’s the contributions from our supporters that have made our work possible and ensured that survivors of sexual abuse get the support that they need, free of charge, for as long as they need it. Our services would not exist without the generosity of our supporters.

‘There are many wonderful things about Safeline, the support is given by trained, professional people, who have a genuine interest in helping survivors rebuild their lives. Support is unconditional, non-judgmental and, crucially, lasts as long as the survivor needs it. The fact that the counselling and ISVA service is free, means anyone can access it.

Survivor Testimonial

At Safeline, I am heard, believed, understood and unjudged, particularly when describing the degrading and life-threatening abuse I encountered. Without Safeline, it is highly probable I would have ceased my life.
