Supporting Exceptionally Vulnerable Women

Last week, Safeline delivered a bespoke First Responders Course to the team at Manchester Action on Street Health (MASH)

The course is designed for frontline professionals who may encounter cases of sexual abuse, sexual harassment, intimate image exploitation, or emerging risks such as AI-generated sexual imagery.

Delivered by expert practitioners, the session was trauma-informed, evidence-based, and focused on building confidence in recognising, responding to, and supporting survivors of sexual exploitation.

MASH supports women in Manchester who sex work.  They help them to experience good health, safety and emotional wellbeing by providing vital frontline support to women who face multiple disadvantages, including exploitation, homelessness, substance dependency, and violence. Their teams operate in high-risk environments where safeguarding knowledge and rapid, effective response to disclosures are essential.

Safeline’s training strengthens their capacity to respond safely, prevent harm, and provide trauma-informed support to those affected.

Course Focus: Legal Knowledge, Digital Exploitation, and Safeguarding

The First Responders Course included:

  • Understanding intimate image abuse and the risks associated with AI-generated sexual imagery

  • The legal framework relating to sexual abuse and image-based offences

  • Recognising coercion, exploitation, and perpetrator tactics

  • Responding appropriately to disclosures

  • Providing trauma-informed support to survivors

  • Vicarious Trauma and Wellbeing

By combining legal insight with behavioural understanding, the training ensures participants can respond confidently to disclosures, recognise emerging exploitation patterns, and strengthen safeguarding practice within their teams.

The course reinforces Safeline’s reputation as a sector leader in sexual abuse, perpetrator behaviour, and trauma-informed practice. Equipping frontline professionals with this knowledge is critical for protecting vulnerable individuals and maintaining safe, accountable organisational cultures.

Safeline is proud to support  MASH, an essential service for women involved in sex work, providing safety, health support, wellbeing resources and pathways to independence.  We look forward to strengthening our relationship in the future.
