This normalisation of sexual harassment and sexual abuse perpetuates silence, minimises the voices of survivors, and allows these behaviours to persist unchecked.

The alarming rise in child-on-child abuse further underscores the urgent need to address and dismantle a culture that tolerates sexual abuse, both within and beyond educational settings. Schools, colleges, and universities must be safe spaces where every child and young person can learn and thrive without fear of harassment or assault.

In 2021, Ofsted conducted a review that surveyed approximately 900 children and young people, uncovering shocking statistics that highlight the scale of the problem:

  • 92% females suffered sexist naming-calling
  • 79% of females experienced sexual assault.
  • 68% of females felt pressure to do sexual things they did not to.
  • 80% being put under pressure to provide sexual imagery of themselves.
  • 38% of boys had experienced sexual assault
  • 27% boys of felt pressure to do sexual things they did not to.
  • Many young people shared that they did not feel confident their concerns would be taken seriously by school staff.

Thank you. Without you, young children would be in a worse state without you

I think the film is very helpful because it shows how easily sexual assault, and harassment can be pushed aside and not dealt with correctly. It also shows that people will stand up for their peers eventually.

Barricade film is a good representation of situations at school, important to talk about it especially in a school environment

Today the lesson really helped me because no one should experience any kind of sexual abuse or assault

This project is important to raise awareness of the consequences of sexual images and what to do when you come across it

I have learned so many new things. Thank you for helping me understand rape and everything else
