How counselling can help you
If you or someone close to you has experienced sexual abuse it can feel very difficult to talk about it to your friends and family. Because your reactions are overwhelming or confusing, you may feel like you want to protect others, or you worry you won’t be believed or supported.
Coming to counselling gives you a private and confidential safe space. During these sessions, you can talk to someone about your reactions, thoughts, feelings, and experiences without being judged.
After counselling, many clients report an improvement in their health and well-being. For example, they report an increased:
- feeling of control over their lives,
- hope for the future and
- an ability to move on from their experiences.
