Safeline believes sexual abuse can be prevented. We offer a comprehensive range of free, tailored, high quality, evidence-informed Prevention/Early Intervention projects for vulnerable children. Alongside these projects we also deliver informative workshops for parents, teachers and other professionals. Aiming to help prevent all forms of child sexual abuse and supports those already affected from being re-victimised.

I suffered from sexual abuse for years and always felt alone and confused, abusers often make it difficult to differentiate between what is normal and what is abusive behaviour. Safeline works hard to educate young people to prevent any further confusion that could lead to abuse.

Safeline increased my self esteem and helped me learn more about myself and how i deal with things.

I have taken part in many projects in just a year, such as the drama project. I have also taken part in a peer mentoring course and a careers course, both in which i received an ASDAN certificate for taking part. Safeline also provided me with counseling and in a short time i learned more about myself than i had for years.

Support for Young People

One-to-One Safer Relationships course

Specialist one-to-one tailored support for high risk, victimised children and young people (CYP) aged 4 – 18. Support covers a wide range of issues that put them at risk, including:

  • Social media
  • Online grooming
  • Healthy relationships
  • Child sexual exploitation
  • Self-harming.

Throughout this one-to-one support, CYP complete the 6 – 8-week Safeline Safer Relationship Course. Students receive an ASDAN PSHE accreditation and are encouraged to become peer mentors and support others in the future.

One-to-One Prevention of Harmful Sexual Behaviours Course

A tailored 4-week course for children and young people aged 9 to 18 years who display abusive attitudes and behaviours that may lead to crimes of violence and sexual abuse against others.

This project promotes and supports behavioural and attitudinal change by helping students recognise and understand what healthy relationships, attitudes and behaviours look like and how they can address them.

Whole School Approach – Tackling sexual harassment and sexual assaults in schools

This project is delivered to all year 9 students, three times during the academic year – tackling sexual harassment and sexual assault in schools. It provides essential information on consent, laws, and self-generated imagery. The project creates a student safeguarding forum emphasising cultural change within the school environment. This project can also be delivered outside of Warwickshire.

Primary School Project

Safeline run primary school projects for a period of 6-weeks with Key stage 1 and 2 students. We educate them on key topics such as:

  • Online safety
  • Healthy relationships
  • Consent
  • Good citizenship
  • Bullying
  • Mental health.

We believe that providing them with this knowledge will empower them to make the right choices and inform them of how to get support if needed. These projects also help significantly with the transition into secondary school by improving the young person’s confidence and self-esteem.

Supportive Projects

We run supportive projects and peer support groups outside of school for those who have suffered from sexual abuse or at risk to assist in their recovery.  The supportive projects encompass a range of fun activities such as art, sport, and drama. These projects encourage young people to meet new friends, increase their self- esteem and confidence, and gain emotional support.

Employability Course

This course is designed to help vulnerable young people who have suffered sexual abuse develop the knowledge and skills they will need to succeed in the workplace. We support young people to improve their confidence and knowledge in completing application forms and CVs, participating in interviews and connecting with potential employers.

Awareness Workshops for Students at College or University

Safeline supports young people in further education settings by providing online and face-to-face awareness seminars focusing on the prevention of sexual abuse and how any young person affected by inappropriate sexual behaviour or sexual abuse can obtain support.

These workshops will increase students’ awareness and understanding of the prevalence and impact of sexual abuse, and help them identify people who might be displaying abusive behaviours. We give them practical tips and advice on how to deal with issues that might be affecting their safety and know where they can access specialist support. This workshop has been designed to prevent sexual abuse in all its forms and support those already affected.

No Racism Here

No Racism Here supports vulnerable children/young people (CYP) aged 9 – 18 who have suffered racism and other forms of abuse. This project focuses on equality for all and includes in-depth discussions on Hate Crimes and the Black Lives Matter Movement. Language and harmful vocabulary are key discussion points alongside understanding the impact of community perceptions regarding race and culture.

Students are empowered to share their experiences of prejudice and racism and together develop a plan of how to overcome and resolve future discrimination at school or within the wider community.

This project enables young people from ethnic minority backgrounds to feel better supported, with an understanding that they will be treated equally and that they feel safe to report any form of abuse including sexual abuse. Participants take part in a presentation and receive an ASDAN PSHE accreditation.

Parent Support

Parent Support Workshops

Delivered to parents online or face-to-face, Safeline Parent Support Workshops enable parents and carers to understand the risks associated with internet usage, give practical tips and advice on how to support young people with mental health issues, and help parents to deal with issues such as cyber and physical bullying.

The workshop also provides parents/carers with high-quality support that will:

  • Increase their understanding of the prevalence and impact of child sexual abuse.
  • Help them identify if their child is at risk or displaying abusive behaviours.
  • Equip them with information on how to refer their child for specialist support and how to report.

Parents/Carers can also experience trauma if their child has experienced some form of sexual abuse, or they are vulnerable and at risk. To help them cope with their own emotions to better support their child, parents/carers are given access to all Safeline’s other support services, including trauma-informed counselling and psychotherapy, (Face-to-Face/Telephone/online), group work and creative therapies, (art and play), Children’s Independent Sexual Violence Advocacy and Helpline support.

Teacher Support

Teacher Training

Teachers have a critical role to play in preventing sexual abuse in all its forms. Safeline’s Teacher Training workshop is designed to equip teachers in primary schools, secondary schools and further education colleges with the necessary skills and information to identify the signs and symptoms of sexual abuse both physically and online. In the workshop, teachers will:

  • Increase their understanding of the prevalence and impact of child sexual abuse
  • Gain the knowledge to recognise the current methods used by perpetrators.
  • Learn how to identify and support at risk and vulnerable children
  • Learn how to identify and support children and young people displaying abusive behaviours.

The workshop will also include practical tips and advice on how to support a child with mental health issues and deal with issues such as child sexual abuse and exploitation, internet safety, and cyber/physical bullying. Teachers will also learn where they can refer a child for specialist support. This 1.5-hour training can be delivered in and outside of Warwickshire.
